End of the Year Book Tag 2022

The year is almost over, and I honestly cannot believe how quickly time passes. I did this book tag for the first time two years ago and, for some reason, did not do it last year, so this book tag was long overdue.

To check out the previous one I did, click here.

ARE THERE ANY BOOKS YOU STARTED THIS YEAR THAT YOU NEED TO FINISH?

I started reading the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi early this year and wanted to continue it with Restore Me. However, I was only a few chapters in when I hit a reading slump, and I still cannot bring myself to pick it up again. In a way, I feel as if I’m done with the series, but I hope to finish it in the future. I’m currently reading It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover, so it’s technically a book I’m trying to finish.

DO YOU HAVE AN AUTUMNAL BOOK TO TRANSITION INTO THE END OF THE YEAR?

I read many mystery/thrillers over the past few months, and they were all perfect for the spooky season. However, since it is summer here in South Africa, I am more in a contemporary mood. I have also wanted to read a few Christmas-related books, and I am thinking of picking up Hercule Poirot’s Christmas by Agatha Christie, Kiss Her Once for Me by Alison Cochrun, Baggage Claim by Juliana Smith or The Toymakers by Robert Dinsdale.

IS THERE A NEW RELEASE YOU ARE STILL WAITING FOR?

I am counting the days until I get my hands on copies of Five Survive by Holly Jackson and Nine Liars by Maureen Johnson. I absolutely loved the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series, so I am excited to get to the author’s new book. I binged the Truly Devious series a few months ago, and I am also really looking forward to getting to the fifth book in the series.

WHAT ARE THREE BOOKS YOU WANT TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR?

I want to get to Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood and the above-mentioned two new releases, Five Survive and Nine Liars. There are also many others I want/need to get to.

IS THERE A BOOK YOU THINK COULD STILL SHOCK YOU AND BECOME YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE YEAR?

I honestly do not know. I have really high hopes for the two mystery novels on my list, but I have not found all-time favourites this year, so I guess we will see.

HAVE YOU ALREADY STARTED MAKING READING PLANS FOR 2023?

Yes, and I’m extremely overwhelmed by all the books I want to read. There are an unbelievable amount of books on my TBR, and I do not know what I want to get to first. I’m planning to take part in the 2023 Goodreads Challenge and push myself to reach a goal of 50 books for a change. However, the books on my TBR for the next year are probably double or triple the amount of my goal. I do not know what to choose, but my three most significant goals are to read what I really want to, to keep up with the review copies I receive from publishers, and to read from a broader variety of genres.

What are your reading plans for 2023? And if you have any Christmas-related recommendations for me, please leave them in the comments below!

Keep reading and never stop telling stories.
