And so, another year comes to an end. This past year has gone by in the blink of an eye but nonetheless, it was one of the most productive and challenging ones.

As I did last year, I will be showing you my top favourite book quotes I came across this year. I might be missing a few I wanted to mention, but there are honestly so many and it is impossible to write about them all.

Without further ado, let us look at my 21 favourite quotes of 2021!

“To this world. To the next. To the people we meet between and the bonds we share.”

—A Deal with the Elf King by Elise Kova

“Our stories are worth telling”

—A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

“I wanted to tell the book thief many things, about beauty and brutality. But what could I tell her about those things that she didn’t already know? I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race-that rarely do I ever simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant.”

—The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

“As always, one of her books was next to her.”

—The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

—From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout

“She now understood that the world wasn’t kind to young women, especially when they behaved in ways men didn’t like, and spoke truths that men weren’t ready to hear.”

—Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

“She was back where she belonged, surrounded by the whisperings and rustlings of pages; the sweet, musty smell of books.”

Make a family that will find you more beautiful every day, even when your hair is white with age. Be the light that makes someone’s lantern shine.”

—Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim

“When you’re given an opportunity to change your life, be ready to do whatever it takes to make it happen. The world doesn’t give things, you take things. If you learn one thing from me, it should probably be that.”

—The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

“You do not know how fast you have been running, how hard you have been working, how truly exhausted you are, until someone stands behind you and says, “It’s OK, you can fall down now. I’ll catch you.”

“Juliette,” he breathed. “It is not as though my name is any better. It is not as though there is less blood on mine. You can call a rose something else, but it remains yet a rose.”
Juliette flinched, hearing a shout outside. “So we are never to change?” she asked. “We are forever blood-soaked roses?”
Roma took her hand. Pressed a kiss to her knuckles. “A rose is a rose, even by another name,” he whispered. “But we choose whether we will offer beauty to the world, or if we will use our thorns to sting.”
They could choose. Love or blood. Hope or hate.
“I love you,” Juliette whispered fiercely. “I need you to know. I love you so much it feels like it could consume me.”

—Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong
