FAVOURITE BOOKS OF 2020

Twenty-twenty has been a good year for me when it comes to my reading. I have read ten books more (70 in total) than the previous year and found quite a few all-time favourites.

My favourites change all the time but as I am writing this blog post, there are five books I cannot stop thinking about. I decided to limit my top reads of the year to only five, otherwise we would be here forever.

So, let us look at my top reads of 2020!

5. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

R A T I N G :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This book was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I went into the story half-blind and was surprised by the different twists and turns. It was a book I could not put down and after that cliffhanger, I am buzzing with excitement to get my hands on the sequel.

4. The Wicked King by Holly Black

R A T I N G :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

After hearing about the Folk of the Air series for years, I finally decided to pick up the books this year. I loved the story from from the first chapter and could not stop reading. To be honest, I am absolute Jude and Cardan trash but hey, who isn’t?

Out of the three books, I loved The Wicked King the most. The book kept my interest like no other and that cliffhanger… Luckily I had the next book as well, so that I could dive back into the story. I am also really looking forward to How the King of Elfhame Learned How to Hate Stories and am planning on reading it first thing in the new year!

You can find my full review for the series here.

3. Coraline by Neil Gaiman

R A T I N G :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I have been hearing about Coraline for many years and so, I decided to finally read the book and watch the film and I ended up loving the story a lot more than I ever thought I would. Coraline is such a sweet character, along with the cat, and I loved what she taught us in the end. It is a book that I will be rereading many more times in the future!

2. House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

R A T I N G :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This book was my most anticipated release of 2020 and I can tell you that I loved it with all my heart. It took my a while to get into the story as it is quite informative in the beginning but I quickly got into the story soon after.

The writing was phenomenal and the characters breathtaking. And believe me when I say that the ending had me sobbing in the middle of the night.

I am extremely looking forward to the next book in the series and more from Sarah J. Maas!

1. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

R A T I N G :

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I do not even know where to get started with this book. If there was a book specially written for me out there, this one would be it. I related to both Addie and Henry so much that it hurts my heart just thinking about it.

This book taught me how to move forward from where I now am in my life. It is a breathtaking book that I will be rereading many more times!

I am now, more than ever, looking forward to binge all V.E. Schwab’s books this coming year.

You can find my full review here.

Choosing my top five was so difficult as there were so many others I would have liked to include that were really close to these few. Are there any books on this list that are also on your list of favourites of 2020? Let me know as I would love to ramble on and on about them!

Also, I am a little late but a very happy winter/summer solstice to you all!

Keep reading and never stop telling stories.

    1. Thank you so much! Haha I’m so sorry it terrified you! The movie was a bit scarier than the book but in a way, I found the book more creepy. It just had this feeling to it but I loved every moment of it and cannot wait to reread it for Halloween next year ✨
