I truly cannot believe the end of the year is here. This year was one of the worst for most of us and it felt as if time went by incredibly slow, yet here we are at the last week of November.
At the same time, I am both happy and sad to see this year go. Everything going on in the world will not magically disappear the second it turns 2021 but I am hoping that better things will come and that things will get easier.
As for being sad, I am always sad to see a year go. I got to know more about myself this year than I would have had any other way. Having achieved little things like having a full skincare and makeup routine, redecorating my room, launching my blog and applying for university kept me happy and busy amidst all the chaos. All of that gave me hope and something to look forward to. This year, I truly learned to appreciate the little things and for that, I am thankful.
So, after all that babbling, let us start the end of the year book tag!
ARE THERE ANY BOOKS YOU STARTED THIS YEAR THAT YOU NEED TO FINISH?

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Other Stories by Robert Louis Stevenson. The Barnes & Noble edition that I own contains the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and other stories written by the author. I only read the one story a few months back and still need to finish the book by reading the separate short stories.
DO YOU HAVE AN AUTUMNAL BOOK TO TRANSITION INTO THE END OF THE YEAR?

As it is summer here in South Africa, I am not reading any books with autumn vibes at the moment. I read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue a few weeks back and that definitely gave me that autumn feeling but as for transitioning into the end of the year, I am planning on reading The Toymakers by Robert Dinsdale. I have been wanting to read it for so long and I just know it will very much put me in the Christmas spirit.
IS THERE A NEW RELEASE YOU’RE STILL WAITING FOR?

By the time this blog post is up, How the King of Elfhame Learned How to Hate Stories will already be released, so I would say The Cousins by Karen M. McManus. I finished reading all her books a few months back and so, I am really excited to get to this one as well.
WHAT ARE THREE BOOKS YOU WANT TO READ BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR?
To keep it a round and even number, I decided to only read one more book this year after my current read. My goal at the beginning of the year was to read only 20 books but so far, I have read 68 books. The three books I wanted/want to get to most are The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab (read), These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong (currently reading) and The Toymakers by Robert Dinsdale (want to read).
As it is summer vacation here, starting next week, I want to spend as much time possible 1) preparing myself for the new year by working on things for White Rose Stories, 2) getting things ready before university starts, 3) decluttering the house, 4) spend time outside and 5) be with my family. Therefore, I will not have much time reading.
IS THERE A BOOK YOU THINK COULD STILL SHOCK YOU AND BECOME YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK OF THE YEAR?

I honestly do not think a book will overtake my love for House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas and The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab but I think These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong will make it onto the list of my top five favourite books of the year.
HAVE YOU ALREADY STARTED MAKING READING PLANS FOR 2021?
Yes, I did. I love planning in advance and already have a small list of books I want to read in next year. My goal for next year is to read only 21 books. As I will be busy with school next year, I do not want to pressure myself to read a lot of books. I want to read less so that I can take in the ones that I do read better.

Keep reading and never stop telling stories.

I’ve heard a lot about Karen M. McManus and now I’m super curious and I want to read her books! I hope you enjoy her latest release 😊
It sounds like you’ve had a great reading year! I hope 2021 is just as good! ☺️
