It’s almost Halloween! We do not really celebrate Halloween in South Africa, and the spring weather does not fit in with the holiday’s aesthetic but I just cannot help but get as excited as everyone else.
A pumpkin spice latte is something I have yet to try but when I saw this book tag from Planty of Pages, I just knew I had to do it. This amazing book tag was originally created by The Book Pusher, so please make sure to check out her video.
PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE — a book everyone likes to hate on but is delicious.
A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses #2) by Sarah J. Maas

I think many of you knew this would be my answer. This series are the first fantasy books I read and it just made me fall head-over-heels in love with the genre. I still cannot get enough of Feysand and yes, I am complete Sarah J. Maas trash. Whenever I need to really escape from the real world, I will always read my favourite scenes and quotes from her books.
“FALL IS MY FAVOURITE SEASON” — a cliché you cannot get enough of.
Oh, I do not really know. I think probably enemies to lovers! So many of my favourite books fall in that category.
SWEATER WEATHER TO T-SHIRT WEATHER — a book you thought was one thing but was completely different by the end.
Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust

This is one I decided to pick up, on a whim, the other day and I enjoyed it just as much as I hoped to. It held me captivated and I loved the characters and writing. It has been a while since so many plot twists were thrown in my direction. Every time I thought it would end a certain way but the author just kept going in a completely different direction. I loved every second of it!
“SPOOPS” — do you have a spooky book on your TBR?
The Body in the Library (Miss Marple #3) by Agatha Christie

I have been wanting to get to more of the brilliant Agatha Christie’s books. I remember the title of this one grabbing my attention a few years back and so I am really hoping to get to it before (or on) Halloween this year.
TAROT READING — a five-star prediction.
A Song of Wraiths and Ruin (A Song of Wraiths and Ruin #1) by Roseanne A. Brown

I have been wanting to get to this book for months and after reading the synopsis and hearing everyone talk about it, I just know that it will find a place deep inside my heart and that I will love every moment of it.
SEPHORA SAGE + CRYSTAL SET — a book that meant well but missed the mark by a landslide.
Crowning Soul (Heart of Noorenia #1) by Sahira Javaid

This one was one I received an eARC of for a blog tour I was part of. After reading the synopsis, I was thrilled to have a copy in my hands but unfortunately, the story felt all over the place. I think the story had potential but I just did not enjoy it as I had hoped to.

What will you be doing this Halloween? Which spooky books do you plan on reading?
Keep reading and never stop telling stories.

Thank you for the tag! 🤍
