READING CHALLENGE | #SixOfRereads

I have never before had much interest in rereading books because they just never kept me interested enough the second time. Over the past few months, I have had the urge to reread some of my favourites and slowly, I have returned to the worlds I first fell head-over-heels in love with.

Ami, from The Booktrovert Blog, created this readathon so that we can all use it as excuse to reread some of our most favourite books. The readathon will take place from the 1st until the 31st of July and there are six prompts to complete. As this is a Six of Crows inspired readathon, one of the prompts is aimed at the duology but you can make it fit any book you want to reread. There is also no need to complete all the prompts and you can do as many or few of them as you want. For more information, make sure to check out Ami’s announcement blog post here and check out her bookstagram here.

I also just quickly would like to thank Ami for creating this readathon and for giving all of us the excuse we needed to reread the books we have been longing to return to despite all of the new books on our TBRs.

MY #SIXOFREREADS TBR

THE THIEF — a book about a heist.
THE SHARPSHOOTER — a book with very accurate representation.

⚔︎ Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

G O O D R E A D S  |  S Y N O P S I S

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone.

A convict with a thirst for revenge

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager

A runaway with a privileged past

A spy known as the Wraith

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes

Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

I have been wanting to return to this world for such a long time and am so happy to finally get back to it. I really loved the characters and the author’s writing.

THE WRAITH — a book that haunts you.
THE HEARTRENDER — a book that broke your heart.

⚔︎ House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

G O O D R E A D S  |  S Y N O P S I S

Bound by blood.

Tempted by desire.

Unleashed by destiny.

Bryce Quinlan had the perfect life—working hard all day and partying all night—until a demon murdered her closest friends, leaving her bereft, wounded, and alone. When the accused is behind bars but the crimes start up again, Bryce finds herself at the heart of the investigation. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge their deaths.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.

As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.

With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.

This book was my most anticipated release of 2020. I absolutely love Sarah J. Maas and her books, and this one was no exception. I cried and laughed so much during this book and ever since I read it when it released in March, I have been dying to reread it.

THE CONVICT — a book with an arresting twist.
THE RUNAWAY — a book that ran away with you.

⚔︎ Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

G O O D R E A D S  |  S Y N O P S I S

Welcome to the world of the Grisha.

Kaz Brekker and his crew of deadly outcasts have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives.

Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties.

A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets – a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.

I really loved this book because I completely lost myself in it. This one kept me on the edge of my seat and could not put it down. As I remember almost nothing about it anymore, I am buzzing with excitement to return to it again.

Keep (re)reading and never stop telling stories.
